It is hard to analyse work of Steina and Woody Vasulkas without a direct experience with the tools they employ. They see their artistic mission in interconnecting the spheres of art and technology, trying to introduce a new, non-technical interpretation of technology, to examine the poetical dimension of the tools and their possible cultural use. In this way, they continue the tradition of artists who have found inspiration in technical and scientific inventions. Woody characterizes himself as the ”torchbearer” introducing the cultural meaning of the field of technology.
