Documentary FIlm Festival
October 27 – 30, 1999
It was for the first time that the festival hosted a larger number of international guests, including famous Russian director Victor Kossakovsky whose films won prestigious festival awards already in the 1990s. It was him who became the first holder of the Contribution to World Cinema Award that later became an annual part of the announced awards. Jihlava was attended by television crews and its publicity increased rapidly. Marek Hovorka and Petr Kubica bought the first festival fax at a Prague pawnshop. The festival trailer directed by Radim Špaček starred a German shepherd that finds a film camera full of sausages in the field.
