4th Ji.hlava International
Documentary Film Festival
October 25 – 28, 2000
Legendary British director Richard Leacock was the exclusive guest of the festival and became the second holder of the Contribution to World Cinema Award. For the first time in the festival’s history, the festival programmers nominated films for the competition section awarding the best Czech documentary film of the year. It was also for the first time that a festival jury sat in the cinema. The jury was rather unconventional, comprising not only film professionals but also personalities active across various professions. The jury members selected Karel Vachek’s Bohemia Docta, or the Labyrinth of the World and the Lusthaus of the Heart (The Divine Comedy) as the best Czech film.
