9th Ji.hlava International
DOcumentary Film Festival

October 25 – 30, 2005

The number of submitted films exceeded 1.000. The festival presented the profile section Into Exile that left its mark on the festival design and covered the work of exiled Czech filmmakers in a wide context. The festival introduced the online portal Doc-Air (now DAFilms.com) aiming to make documentary films available online to viewers across the world. The Jihlava's Translucent Being was the youngest holder of the Caméra d’Or from Cannes IFF, Japanese filmmaker Naomi Kawase. The jury comprised of Vojtěch Jasný, Vít Klusák, Petr Král, Filip Remunda, Martin Ryšavý and Veronika Reynková awarded six films from the Czech Joy section ex aequo, i.e. to an equal degree. Jihlava IDFF presented the retrospective of the documentary work of French enfant terrible Jean-Luc Godard and launched the edition 20/21 by his monography. For the first time, all of the festival venues were linked by an environmental drawing – the white line of the Jihlava-based graphic artist and performer Vít Kraus.
