Talented European documentary film producers from across Europe came to Jihlava to make their first appearance as Emerging Producers. The project that soon became the flagship of Jihlava IDFF’s Industry Programme. In addition to documentary film, visitors could newly enjoy documentary theatre, brought as part of the festival’s off-programme. The Inspiration Forum offered inspiring thoughts from the writer and Nobel Prize laureate, Gao Xingjian, Pakistani writer Tariq Ali and three members of the feminist group FEMEN including Anna Hutsol, who founded the collective in 2008. The Best Czech Documentary award went to Fortress made by Klára Tasovská and Lukáš Kokeš. The festival’s 2012 visual identity revolved around the motif of a target and a shooting gallery was installed in front of DKO. The chilling atmosphere of North Korean docs was underscored by the first autumn snow.
